Thatcham flats evacuated after fire

Firefighters from Newbury Fire Station tackled blaze in ground floor flat last night (Wednesday)
A BLOCK of flats in Thatcham was evacuated during the early hours of this morning (Thursday), due to a fire.
According to the crew manager of White Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Phil Knight, two fire engines and a total 12 firefighters were called at midnight to an address in Rotary Way, to a fire in a ground floor bedroom.
Four flats were evacuated while firefighters tackled the blaze.
No-one was hurt, and fire was fully extinguished by 1.30am.
Thames Valley Police also attended the scene.
Fire crews from Dee Road in Tilehurst and also Whitley Wood in Reading were sent to assist and provide cover at Newbury Fire Station during the incident.
