Thatcham gearing up for family fun day

Thousands of people expected to attend free event

IT's nearly here!

Thatcham's Family Fun Day will return to the Henwick Worthy Sports Ground on Sunday.

There is a lot to live up to as organisers hailed last year’s event as the biggest and best yet, with thousands of families attending.

It all begins at 11am when the event will be opened by the mayor of Thatcham, Sheila Ellison.

The field will become a hub for the community's heart as more than 70 stalls manned by groups, organisations and charities in the town will promote and fundraise for their causes.

Then at noon crowds of children will be unleashed around the field for the fun races organised by the Thatcham Sports Network and sponsored by the Newbury Weekly News.

And, for the car enthusiasts, Thatcham Rotary Club's classic car display and parade will feature more than 100 cars.

There’ll also be live music, a fun fair, sports taster sessions, the return of last year's popular dog show and the crowd pulling tug of war competition.

The family fun day runs from 11am until 4pm and we'll be there throughout the day.
