Thatcham man dies after earlier collision
Cyclist has died after collision with a lorry on Bath Road this morning (Tues)
A 40-YEAR-old Thatcham man has died after the bicycle he was riding along the Bath Road was in collision with a lorry earlier this morning (Tuesday).
South Central Ambulance Service were called to the incident at 7.48am and police were called to the scene at Bath Road near to the junction of Pound Lane at about 7.50am.
The cyclist was taken by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading but later this morning he died of his injuries.
Thames Valley Police said his next of kin have been informed.
The lorry driver was not injured and is helping police with their enquiries.
The Bath Road was closed in both directions between the Henwick Lane junction and the Turnpike Road junction road following the incident and currently (10.30am) remains closed to allow access to collision investigators.
Police have said it is likely to remain closed for at least another two hours.
