Thatcham man's body pulled from canal




The man, who was pulled out of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Newbury, is yet to be formally identified

THE body of an 80-year-old man from Thatcham was pulled out of the Kennet and Avon Canal on Saturday, June 4.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to the section of the canal just off Mill Lane at 10.24am after receiving a report of a body in the water.

The body of the man was pulled out of the water just before 3pm in an operation which involved officers with the Force's Specialist Search and Recovery Team.

It is thought he had been in the water for some time.

The man's death is being treated as unexplained but there are no suspicious circumstances.

He is yet to be formally identified.
