Thatcham residents chance to appear on TV

BBC show being filmed this weekend

THATCHAM residents will have the chance to appear on television when a new show rolls into town.

It will be lights, camera, action in Ferndale Court in Station Road on Saturday as Street Auction sets up shop.

The BBC programme sees residents bring their unwanted items and assemble for a pop-up auction between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

The show contains an element of surprise as local person is then presented with a gift.

The gift is presented to a resident who has done a lot for people in the community.

Previous gifts have been awarded to a wounded serviceman who helped other veterans re-adapt to civilian life, and a man who lost part of his arm in an accident.

The show is hosted by Flog It! frontman Paul Martin, who will take to the rostrum to auction the items.

There will be a street party atmosphere with cake stalls, bric-a-brac and craft stalls, which will add to the total being raised. Volunteers are also wanted to help on the day.
