Thatcham’s Newbury Building Society OneBanx machine – three months on

As an organisation owned by our members, supporting our local high street and the people who live and work there is at the heart of what we do, writes Newbury Building Society.

It’s one of the reasons why we installed a OneBanx kiosk in our Thatcham branch as part of the recent refurbishment, which you may have already heard about, or even used,

We’ve been really pleased with the response to the OneBanx machine so far, with over 60 per cent of the people who have used it returning for a repeat transaction.

Unsurprisingly, in a town that hasn’t had a bank for a number of years, the vast majority transactions since installation have been deposits.

Here are three things you might now know about the OneBanx machine:

You can make deposits to any bank or building society account

As long as you have the correct details, you can make a cash deposit to any bank account.

Before making deposits or withdrawals, you’ll need to download the OneBanx mobile app and register for the service.

The app can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play.

It’s not just for individual customers

Another thing you may not know about OneBanx is that small businesses and charities can also use the machine.

Before launching, we spoke to a number of businesses and business owners in Thatcham town centre about the lack of access to cash and banking facilities locally, and knew it was an issue for many.

We’re pleased that nearly 10 per cent of our OneBanx users so far have been businesses or charities, and we’re looking forward to more discovering it!

You don’t have to be a Newbury Building Society customer to use it

Finally, you don’t need to be a member of the society to use the machine – it’s free for everyone and can be used during branch opening hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (9.30am on Wednesdays) and 9am-noon on Saturdays.
