Thatcham Santas to jog through the town

Great Thatcham Santa Fun Run returns next month

A FLURRY of red and white will pass through the town when the Great Thatcham Santa Fun Run returns next month.

The run, organised by Thatcham Rotary Club, sees jolly joggers don a Father Christmas cost-ume and take on a 5km course from the Broadway to the lakes and back.

This is the third year that the club has run the event. Last year hund-reds of runners, including one carrying a fridge, raised £3,200, which Thatcham Rotary split between Newbury Hospital Renal Care, Newbury Cancer Care, Thatcham Relief in Need, The Old Bluecoat School and Thatcham Junior Wardens Adventure Training courses. Entrants can also raise money for their own charities.

Thatcham Rotarian Peter Bates said: “This family event will start the season’s festivities off with a family jog and raises a smile on the faces of all who enter, and spectators alike.”

Entry forms are available in the Kennet Leisure Centre and The White Hart, High Street, or at www.rotarythatch am.org.uk

The standard entry fee is £15, students under 18 £10, and children under eight £7. All entrants will receive a free Santa suit to wear and keep.

The Thatcham Santa Run will be held at 11am on Sunday, December 13.
