Thatcham scout group to celebrate 60th anniversary
2nd Thatcham calling former members to join the party
THE 2nd Thatcham Scout Group has received a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery to help fund its 60th anniversary celebrations this summer, writes .
The grant helped to reduce the cost for the Scout group’s week-long trip to the PGL activity centre in Swindon during the May half-term.
The celebrations will continue on July 17 in Bucklebury, when the group will mark their 60th anniversary with a summer barbecue. And they are inviting 2nd Thatcham alumni to join in the festivities.
Second Thatcham (Greenham Court) is made up of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, aged six to 14 years, and is one of the largest Scout Groups in Berkshire.
It is looking for adult volunteers to join, to help bring boys and girls from all backgrounds together to enjoy adventure.
The Big Lottery Fund gives out 40 per cent of the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery, and has handed out nearly £6billion since its creation in 2004.
