Kennet Leisure Centre pool reopens after electrical problems are resolved

THATCHAM'S swimming pool has reopened after electrical problems forced a three day closure over half term.

Mark Ranson, manager of the Kennet Leisure Centre in Stoney Lane confirmed the pool was reopened to swimmers for a couple of hours last night (Thursday Oct 27) and remained open this morning (Friday October 28), with conditions back to normal.

“We have now resolved the pool issues and are open to the public. It has been frustrating but the staff and engineers have been fantastic working to resolve this complicated issue,” said Mr Ranson.

The pool closed on Tuesday (Oct 25), after it was discovered the electrical board had tripped out and remained closed after it was then found that the electrical failure had damaged the pool's pump.

All other facilities at the centre, including the gym and squash courts, were unaffected and have remained open throughout.

Mr Ranson added that both squash courts at the centre would be closed for refurbishment work on November 24 and 25.
