Thatcham Town Council leader will serve again
At a full town council meeting on Monday evening, Mr Dillon (Lib Dem, Thatcham North) was unanimously voted as leader for the second year running, and fellow town and district councillor, Bob Morgan, (Lib Dem, Thatcham South and Crookham) was appointed his deputy.
Nominating Mr Dillon, Owen Jeffery (Lib Dem, Thatcham South and Crookham), said: “Lee has led us through this first year of having a leader and he has done it very successfully.
“I hope others would agree with me that it would be most appropriate if Lee were to carry on the work as leader for the coming year.”
Following his appointment, Mr Dillon nominated Mr Morgan as his deputy, as last year’s appointment Gary Johnson (Lib Dem, Thatcham West) will serve as this year’s deputy mayor.
Mr Morgan was also unanimously approved by members.
Last year was the first year that the council appointed a leader and deputy.
Their roles will be to provide political leadership to the council, liaise between the clerk and the council in indicating priorities, be responsible for working with other councillors and the first point of contact for the clerk when a policy response is needed.
