Thatcham twins £800 closer to Asia after quiz night
Kamila and Laura Sinoplu (pictured), Year 11 pupils at Kennet School, are raising money for an expedition to Asia later in the summer.
More than 90 people turned out for their latest fundraising event, a quiz with former Reading FC footballer Ady Williams as the host for the evening.
The girls said: "The quiz night was a really fun-filled evening and we raised almost £800 in total towards our school trip to Mongolia and China this summer.
"This was in large part due to the raffle, which many Newbury and Thatcham businesses had generously contributed to and we would like to extend a very grateful thank you to them all for making it possible.
“We’d also like to thank everyone who took part for supporting us and for making it such a good evening, we couldn't have done it without you all.”
About 60 pupils from the Stoney Lane school will be travelling to Mongolia and China to work with local communities to build a play area and teach English.
