Thatcham Youth to receive £7,000 grant from town council for core youth activities

Thatcham Youth is to receive a £7,000 grant from the town council to fund its main projects for the next three years.

The grant, in addition to national lottery funding, will help the charity expand its services to young people in the town.

The funding it has received thus far has allowed it to run both the Thatcham Youth Together and Youth Committee, which focus on mental health and giving young people a voice.

In a Thatcham Town Council meeting, Dave and Dan Carter from Thatcham Youth discussed the need for funding new projects.

Town councillor Owen Jeffery (Lib Dem, Thatcham Central) said he has been “impressed” with the level of professionalism from those at Thatcham Youth.

He said: “I would be very supportive about going ahead.”

With this additional money, there will be opportunity to run future projects, namely, music tutoring, expanded detached youth work and first aid training.
