Thatcham's Kennet School to receive two awards
School congratulated for its exceptional achievements
Kennet School is to receive two awards to recognise the hard work of pupils and staff.
The school has qualified for two educational outcomes awards for being in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between key stage 2 results at primary school and GCSE results at age 16, and in the top 20 per cent nationally for high attainment.
The awards follow an annual analysis of Department for Education figures of state-funded schools carried out by the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (The SSAT).
Headteacher, Paul Dick OBE, said: “As the proud Head of Kennet School, I congratulate pupils, staff and parents for a superb set of results last summer. The more detailed the analysis, the better they are. We are pleased to have our excellence recognised by SSAT for scoring at the highest levels across the country.
“In the top 20 per cent for highest attainment and the top 10 cent for progress are awards which suggest that we are hugely successful for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds, that gives us great satisfaction.
“We look forward to bettering our scores again this summer coming.”
The school has been invited to receive their award at a regional celebration ceremony hosted by SSAT at Holland Park School in London on May 12.
Chief executive of SSAT Sue Williamson said: “Kennet School should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students.
“There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope they will join us at the celebration evening for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.
“These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Kennet School, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.”
