Healthy eating and a glass of sherry the secret to long life says centurion
THATCHAM’s oldest resident celebrated her 106th birthday last month.
When Kay Jackson was born on April 22, 1910, Old Trafford had just opened to the public and Halley’s Comet was visible from the earth; it would next be seen in 1986.
Mrs Jackson celebrated her 106 years with family, friends and staff at Thatcham Court nursing home, where she has been a resident since June 2010. She enjoys her soft dog toys, chats with the carers and trips to the seaside.
Mrs Jackson was born in Worcestershire and told the NWN on her 103rd birthday that a small glass of sherry, combined with eating healthily and keeping active, was the secret to a long life.
