Newbury’s The Baker’s Lounge Bar in Northbrook Street closes

The family-run business has closed its doors.

The Baker’s Lounge Bar, which opened in Newbury’s Northbrook Street at the end of August, has closed its doors.

Owners David and Lily Redding-Lang give their heartfelt thanks to their customers, but say soaring financial overheads meant they could not longer keep going.

“We were really embraced by the Newbury community,” said Mr Redding-Lang.

“People are very sad to see us go, and a measure of that is when my wife received at least six bouquets and numerous amounts of cards wishing us well.”

The shop, where locals could grab a pasty and a pint, remains closed.

Mr Redding-Lang says they are considering further opportunities in the area.
