Bernie England has moved his independendent barber shop from Kings Road West to The Arcade in Newbury

THE owner of an independent barber shop in Newbury celebrated a move to new premises in the town last Wednesday (April 20).

Bernie England has relocated The Barber Lounge from Kings Road West to The Arcade, complete with his retro clothes, street artwork and limited edition prints.

Mr England, an avid collector of artwork, expanded his previous premises last year to include the retro clothes and art shop, but he said he hoped the shop-cum-gallery would continue to be a success in the new premises.

“It has all been quite positive so far,” he said.

“The barbers is my bread and butter but the shop is something I have wanted to pursue further.”

Mr England added that there had been a steady start to trade in the new premises, adding that he felt he now had a better shop front in a busier part of town which would provide more passing trade.
