Company behind The Newbury pub in Bartholomew Street could be heading towards voluntary liquidation

The company behind an award-winning gastropub in the heart of Newbury could be heading for voluntary liquidation.

The Newbury Pub Ltd has been trading as The Newbury at 137 Bartholomew Street.

But at a general meeting of company members held on Monday, August 21, a resolution was decided to voluntarily wind up the company.

Simon Gwinnutt and Sajid Sattar of Greenfield Recovery Limited, in Birmingham, were appointed joint liquidators for the purposes of the voluntary winding up of the company.

Managers, Arron D'souza and Jamie Allen, took over from Pete Lumber last year, who ran the pub for nearly 10 years before moving to Parkway to start a gin bar — which recently closed its doors for good.

The pub is one of the most top-rated places to eat in Berkshire and the country and has accrued more than 700 four or five-star ratings on TripAdvisor.
