The Downgate in Hungerford to open seven days a week

THERE'S good news for regulars at a popular Hungerford watering hole.

The Park Street venue had been closed for several weeks following the departure of licensee Lauren Weir.

The owner, Arkell’s Brewery Ltd, has installed Geordie Taylor as caretaker manager.

The Downgate is currently open Wednesdays to Sundays only, from noon to 8pm.

But although that will change, there are no current plans to reopen the kitchen.

Meanwhile the brewery is still seeking a permanent licensee.
