THE first meeting of local groups looking to improve activities and facilities for children in Thatcham has been deemed successful.
Thatcham Youth, a voluntary organisation that provides, facilitates and supports provision for children and young people, and invited groups and organisations to discuss ways of working together to help improve and support youth provision in the town.
A variety of organisations were represented at the meeting, including local primary schools, youth clubs and sports clubs.
Thatcham Youth chairwoman, Mel Alexander, said: “We’re delighted with how the meeting went, it was a really positive start; it’s great to see local organisations keen to work together for the benefit of our town. To ensure Thatcham Youth is properly representing young people of all ages we know it is vital to work with and support as many children’s service providers as possible, hence why we’re facilitating this Network, which we are confident will go from strength to strength.”
The next meeting of the network will be held at 7pm in the Thatcham Town Council chamber on Brownsfield Road on Wednesday, May 6.
All youth and children’s service providers are welcome. Volunteering opportunities also exist for anyone aged 14 and over looking to be involved in their community. For more information contact Mrs Alexander, on 07795 112 047; email info@thatchamyouth.org.uk or follow ”Thatcham Youth” on Facebook.
