The Force Awakens at Greenham Common tonight (Monday)

Former missile bunkers appear in latest Star Wars trailer

GREENHAM'S missile bunkers have moved from Cold War to Star Wars in the latest trailer for The Force Awakens.

The teaser, spoiled today and available on Youtube, shows the former Cold War missile bunkers serve as the backdrop to a Resistance base on an unidentified planet.

The footage shows Black Leader X-Wing pilot, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), exiting one of the iconic spacecraft before exchanging glances with former First Order stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega).

The film's plot has been kept heavily guarded but Finn has been seen wielding a lightsaber in previously released footage, generating fan theories that he is force sensitive.

News that Greenham's silos would feature in the films broke last year after photographer Matthew Myatt snapped Han Solo’s prized craft, the Millennium Falcon, alongside an X-Wing fighter parked outside the former Ground Launch Cruise Missile Alert and
Maintenance Area (GAMA) site, while shooting promotional pictures for Airbourne Aviation based at Popham Airfield in Hampshire.

The latest trailer will debut during halftime of the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles game.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is due to hit UK cinema screens on December 18, 2015.

The plot has been kept largely under wraps, but will be set 30 years after The Return of the Jedi.

The film will reunite the cast of the original saga, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.
