In recent years the club has been awarded West Berkshire CAMRA Club of the Year 2019, 2020 and 2022, also winning Central Southern CAMRA Regional Club of the Year 2019.

On Wednesday, April 19, West Berkshire CAMRA secretary Mike Avery presented Hungerford Club steward Debbie Hutchins with the West Berkshire CAMRA Club of the Year 2023 certificate.

Mr Avery congratulated Ms Hutchins on the high standards of cask ale served at the club, where Fuller’s London Pride is the regular beer together with one or more changing guest ales.

Ms Hutchins, who has been running the bar since April 2021, said of her role: “It’s good fun – I love it.”

In the evenings, the club is often busy with tennis players and church bell ringers.

The club is also a base for snooker and darts players, a Friday night supper club and a monthly ‘Ladies that Lunch’ meeting.

Daily opening hours have been extended to include afternoons but with a 5pm close at weekends.

CAMRA members are welcome but non-members must be signed in.

Meanwhile Ms Hutchins is organising the annual August Bank Holiday beer festival (Saturday 26 – Monday 28) which will feature four beers at the bar, six more casks on stillage and two traditional ciders. Live music and food, including paninis and a BBQ, will be available and festival admission is free and open to all.
