The Mill House pub in Thatcham reopens after refurb
A pub in Thatcham has reopened after a refurbishment.
Owners Kelly and Mike Ohlin have had The Mill House pub for a year and half, putting in funds and dedication to get them where they are today.
They have been working with community pub group Admiral Taverns on improving the site over the past 18 months in preparation for the refurbishment and they say it has been a long arduous journey.
Mr Ohlin said: “We are very proud to have seen it through after many landlords and promises falling through.
“We are very proud to be the ones that have seen it through.”
He added: “We reopened The Mill House on Thursday (July 13) and were very honoured to welcome the Mayor of Thatcham, councillor Mark Lillycrop to cut the ribbon for us and welcome in all our guests.
“The opening weekend was a huge success and many new guests from the local area who all came out to support us in force.”
The Mill is just one of three pubs that the pair own including one in the New Forest and another in Kintbury, which is also undergoing a full refurbishment.
Thatcham mayor Mr Lillycrop said: “I was very pleased to be a part of the reopening.
“I had the opportunity to cut the ribbon to open the pub that I have visited a number of times in the past.
“It is quite important because it is near the town centre and caters for that Dunstan Park area.
“There is a very happy community at Mill House, they worked very hard to refurbish it and give it a new inviting and appealing atmosphere.
“It was a very good evening.”
