Soldiers of the 2/6th Queen's Regiment are reading the newspaper in their jeep during the Second World War.
Long time readers of the Newbury Weekly News will recognise the name of the photographer, Sgt Ron Lambert, a legendary local figure who took pictures featured in the newspaper for more than 50 years, and became known as a renowned war photographer after serving in the Royal Artillery.
Local newspapers like the Newbury Weekly News were often shipped and flown out to troops serving abroad, containing letters of thanks from serving soldiers, messages, and lists of casualties.
