The Russians are coming! Possibly...

Readers identify bi-plane spotted over the skies of Newbury yesterday (Wednesday)

EAGLE-eyed Newburytoday.co.uk readers have identified this aircraft flying over the south side of Newbury yesterday.

The picture was submitted by reader Tony Titcomb, who said he believed it was a Russian bi-plane.

Within minutes of an appeal put out on Newburytoday.co.uk to help identify the aircraft readers Tony Killingray and Ray Wilton replied, and such is the power of the internet even 211 (Newbury) Squadron got in on the act, as Fg Off Alex Pye also chipped in to confirm it was a Antonov AN-2 single-engine bi-plane.

Mr Wilton said he saw the same type of plane at the Fly to the Past air show in Oxford a few weeks ago, which he won tickets to see through our sister publication the Newbury Weekly News.
