Theale artist wows critics in New York
Kim Davison has been offered a chance to show her paintings at galleries in the heart of Manhattan
AN artist from Theale has wowed critics and gallery owners following an exhibition in New York.
So impressed were art world figures at Kim Davison's works displayed at the Broadway Arts Gallery, New York, she was offered a chance to show her paintings at the Jadite Gallery and the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, both situated in Chelsea in the heart of Manhattan.
The paintings centre around the human form, and she likens the process of creating the expressionist pieces to a choreographed dance.
The series was a representation of both emerging and established artists on an international scale, of what the gallery called “exciting, new investigations in contemporary image making”.
“Its all very positive,” she said.
“The comments were very much about the energy and movement of my work; that it was not static but fluid and had a lift of dynamism and spirit. The female body celebrated which such feminine essence.”
Miss Davison, aged 40, from Station Road in Theale, now needs an agent and a sponsor, and is appealing to the West Berkshire public to help her out.
“With the exhibitions being in the middle of Manhattan there will be significant interest in my art but I need help to handle works and shipping, trips and materials,” she said.
She has also been commissioned to paint a large canvas of a horse, and would like to target Newbury Racecourse as a potential source if inspiration.
The collaborative exhibition ran from March 16 to March 31, and she said it was easily the highlight of her career so far.
She held a solo exhibition at the Wharf in Newbury in 2006, called Both Sides Now.
Recently she has also become part of the London School of Beauty and Make-up, as a make-up artist.
