Resurrection Players’ next show, In The Beginning, to re-enact events leading to creation of Newbury’s Newtown Road Cemetery
Rehearsals are now underway for the next production by Resurrection Players.
The Resurrection Players will soon present their next show In The Beginning, exploring the events that led to the creation of the Newtown Road Cemetery in Newbury.
The production will illustrate how desperate the public health situation in 1847 had become.
To combat this, local figures campaigned to bring about the Act of Parliament of July 1847, which established the Newbury Cemetery Company, now known as Newtown Road Cemetery.
The group, which research and resurrect the lives of local historical figures through theatre, will be performing in the Chamber of Newbury Town Hall — where these historic moments unfolded.
They first ran the show in 2011, and seven of the original cast have returned for this month’s production.
Performances will run from 7.30pm on January 22, 23 and 24, and at 4pm on Saturday, January 25.
Tickets cost £7 and can be reserved and paid in cash on the door.
