Thieves steal keepsakes in "distressing" late-night burglary

The burglary happened sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning where offenders broke into the property before stealing a number of items of jewellery which, according to police, have a “particular sentimental value” to the owner.
Among the items stolen was the white gold sapphire and diamond engagement ring, sapphire and white gold earrings and an eternity ring.
The items belonged to the victim’s late wife, who died last year.
Other items stolen include a fine white gold necklace, an oval Victorian gold brooch and a white opal ring with a gold band.
Also taken was an Omega Deville gold watch, which was engraved on the back, and was given to the victim’s late father on his retirement.
Investigating officer Sgt Warren Craik from Newbury Local CID said: “These items are of particular value to this man and he is naturally very distressed that they have been taken.
“I urge anyone with any information, or has been approached by anyone trying to sell items matching these descriptions, to get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101.
If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
