Police warning after thieves steal tonne of red diesel from Bucklebury
Robbers broke into an address in Bucklebury and manage to flee with a tonne of red diesel.
The fuel is dyed red to differentiate it from regular diesel and is taxed at a lower rate. It is specifically for use by off-road vehicles such as tractors and trains, or for heating systems, mainly in an agricultural setting. It accounts for 15% of total diesel use.
Thames Valley Police said the thieves struck at a property on Bucklebury Road at some point between 10.30pm on Sunday, August 11, and 8am on Monday, August 12.
To gain access, they damaged the lock on a gate.
Once inside, they took the 1,000 litres of fuel.
Officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage that could help their investigation to come forward.
