Welcome to this week’s Dog of the Week.

Dogs Trust Newbury still has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.

And so every Sunday we will continue to shine a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.

Nationwide, the charity currently has 764 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

Today we’re introducing you to Barnaby - a sweet 10-year-old Lurcher who's on the lookout for a perfect retirement home.

“This lovely boy is ready to bring joy and companionship into your life, especially if there's food involved,” said those currently looking after him at the trust’s Newbury base.

“His love language might just be treats!

“Barnaby adores his leisurely pottery walks, where he can happily sniff out new sights and sounds, and he’s all about short, fun adventures.

“With a heart as big as his belly, he’s made plenty of canine friends and human pals along the way, so having a canine walking buddy would be a delightful bonus for him.

Barnaby is described as a “charming boy” who is dreaming of a loving home where he can feel safe and comfortable, ideally with a private garden to potter around and soak up the sun.

He does have age-related arthritis and is currently on medication.

But the trust said that if this raises any concerns, they would still love to chat further as there may be additional support available for him.

“In his golden years, Barnaby dreams of a quiet, relaxing adult home where he can enjoy the simple pleasures of life,” the trust added.

“Make his retirement dreams come true—consider welcoming him into your heart and home.”
