Thousands attend fifth Bucklebury beer festival
THE fifth Bucklebury Beer Festival proved to be the most popular yet, with almost 3,000 people turning up to toast the occasion on Saturday.
The weather was kind to the residents in the Duchess of Cambridge’s home village, who came out in force to enjoy a wide range of activities.
Held on the village’s recreation ground, this year’s event saw more varieties of local beer and cider than ever before, plus a mix of games and activities for the younger guests, including a bouncy castle and coconut shy.
Bucklebury led the national celebrations following the royal birth in July and although there was no visit from the Duke or Duchess of Cambridge, there was an appearance from television presenter and former model Melinda Messenger.
One of the organisers, Anne Ryder, said:“It was a fantastic day and great to see so many there. It was perfect, the children were happy playing while the parents enjoyed sipping a pint.”
For those who didn’t fancy an alcoholic drink, there was also a tea tent selling a range of tempting refreshments and cakes.
Guests were treated to live music throughout the day in the large marquee, with five-piece band Global Café Music bringing the festivities to a close with a set from 7 until 8pm.
All funds raised by the event will support the maintenance of the Victory Room village hall
