Thousands attend Heroes at Highclere event

Large crowds enjoyed a variety of attractions at Highclere Castle yesterday (Sunday)

THOUSANDS of people visited Highclere Castle yesterday (Sunday) for the Heroes at Highclere event.

Large crowds enjoyed a day full of star attractions, displays and flypasts, including the Spirit of Kent Spitfire and an acrobatic performance from The Blades.

Members of the cast from the ITV hit show, Downton Abbey, were also in attendance, including Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Penelope Wilton, among others.

The event raised money for three charities; the Army Benevolent Fund, the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.

Lord Carnarvon said the event had been blessed with good weather, adding that he hoped a lot of money had been raised for the charities involved.
