Three arrested following spate of West Berkshire burglaries
The first incident occurred at about 6pm on Friday, May 2 when offenders broke into a house in Simons Close, Tilehurst.
The victims, a 68-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, left the house for about 20 minutes and returned to find the side gate and back door forced open and the property searched.
Nothing was taken.
Four days later, at 2pm on Tuesday 6 May, a 90-year-old woman left her house in Ashampstead Road, Bradfield, for about 30 minutes and discovered that jewellery and money had been taken.
On the same day a 45-year-old woman was at home in Blandy’s Lane, Upper Basildon,when a handbag was taken from the inside the hallway of the property and two bikes were taken from the garage.
The theft occurred between 6pm and 8pm.
Officer Katie Lond based at Newbury police station said: “These were all afternoon or early evening burglaries within fairly short time frames. If anyone has any information about these incidents, please can they contact us via the 101 number.
“I would also ask people to be vigilant in securing their properties, making sure windows are shut and doors are locked, even if they are only going out for a short amount of time.”
A 33-year-old man from Reading, a 30-year-old man from Slough and a 20-year-old man from Tadley were arrested and bailed in connection with the incidents.
