Three fetes to choose from

Speen Village fete, Leckhampstead's Midsummer Fayre and Winchcombe Shool's fete held today

THREE fetes are taking place in West Berkshire today with Leckhampstead, Speen and Winchcombe School all getting proceedings underway in the afternoon.

Speen's village fete will take place at the recreation ground and will start at 2pm.

One of the beneficiaries of the Speen fete will be St Mary's Church, which still needs £10,000 to finance building work due to begin next month.

Leckhampstead is holding it's Midsummer Fayre on the Village Green, starting at 12pm.

Traditional English displays are at the heart of the fayre. The Garson Gallopers from East Garston will dispay Morris dancing, while children from Brightwalton Primary Scholl will give a maypole display.

Lots of other fun, including a ‘dog with the waggiest tail' contest.

The beneficiaries will be St James' Church, Leckhampstead, Leckhampstead Village Hall and Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

Winchcombe School's fete will start at noon and will be opened by the mayor of Newbury, Jeff Beck.

Activities will include the usual fun and games, with a good range of stalls to boot.

The fete will take place at the school in Maple Crescent, Shaw.
