Three injured in four-car pile-up




A339 near Swan roundabout closed as two people were cut from wreckage following collision between a van, tractor and two cars

ONE person has suffered chest and neck injuries following a four-car accident on the A339 today (Wednesday).

Traffic near the Swan roundabout in Basingstoke Road on the A339 is currently at a standstill following the incident.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Leo Tarring said officers were called at 1.38pm after reports a HGV had been involved in a crash.

The vehicles involved were a tractor, a white Mercedes van, a silver Ford Focus, and a blue Peugeot.

He said three people had been reported injured, with one suffering chest and neck pains.

The extent of the other injuries is not yet known.

As of 2.57 two people were still being cut free from the wreckage of the two cars, and are to be taken to Basingstoke Hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

All lanes were re-opened as of 4.10pm
