Three men assault cyclist in Newbury




Man suffered cuts and bruises but kept hold of bike during attack

A CYCLIST was assaulted by three men while riding his bicycle in Newbury recently.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred close to a speed camera along Newtown Road at around 2am on Saturday, July 2.

The victim, a 24-year-old man from Greenham, was riding his bike along the road when a group of three men began to follow him before they pushed him off his bike and kicked him several times.

He suffered cuts to his face and bruised arms, but managed to keep hold of his bike, which was not stolen.

The first offender is described as white, 6ft, in his late twenties, stocky, with a shaved head and what appeared to be a birthmark on the left hand side of his neck up to his left cheek.

He was wearing a short-sleeved cream shirt with a dark pattern on it, jeans and brown shoes.

The second man is described as Asian, around 25-years-old, 5ft 7ins, with an athletic build.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with a blue line down the sleeves, grey tracksuit bottoms, and trainers.

The third offender is described as white, around 27-year-old, 5ft 10in, with an athletic build and short, shaved brown hair.

He was wearing a chunky gold chain around his neck and on his left wrist, a long sleeved pink shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.
