Thames Valley Police announce sentencing of three men convicted in Tilehurst Hallowe'en murder case




Three men have been sentenced in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old man in Tilehurst on Hallowe'en last year.

Carlos Daniel Capitao Mor da Fonseca, 24, of Fawn Drive, Three Mile Cross, Tuviah Thompson-Hordle, 18, of Brant Close, Arborfield, and Charles Lynch, 18, of Rosedale Crescent, Earley, were found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of murder following a trial lasting five weeks, which concluded at Reading Crown Court on August 24.

At yesterday’s (Monday) sentencing hearing, Mr Fonseca was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 27 years, while Mr Thompson-Hordle was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years.

Mr Lynch was sentenced to be detained at His Majesty’s pleasure with a minimum term of 20 years.

Mr Fonseca was also convicted by unanimous jury verdict of one count of conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug, and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice at an earlier hearing.

Mr Thompson-Hordle was also found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug.

Mr Lynch was also found guilty by unanimous jury verdict one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Earlier in the trial, he had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug.

Mr Lynch was 17 at the time of the incident and conviction. He has since turned 18 and is now able to be named.

On Sunday, October 31, 2021, police were called to Romany Lane following reports of a stabbing.

Officers located Jordan Heffernan, who died at the scene.

Two men and a woman, who were convicted of other offences in relation to the incident, are due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on October 21.

Damian Wozniak, aged 19, of Kings Road, Reading, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to conspiring to pervert the course of justice and conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug.

Hamzah Ahmed, aged 19, of Jubilee Road, Reading, was found not guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of murder and one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice. Earlier in the trial Ahmed pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug.

Madison Henderson, aged 19, of Kings Road, Reading, was convicted by unanimous jury verdict of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and conspiracy to supply a class B-controlled drug.
