Met Office issues yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms for West Berkshire

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for thunderstorms across West Berkshire, writes Anna Couzens.

The warning - which has been put in place across large parts of the UK for Monday and Tuesday - states that the storms are likely to develop throughout the start of the week.

It continues to be in effect for West Berkshire until midnight on Wednesday.

Summer thunderstorms are likely to produce large hail, gusty winds and torrential downpours that can disrupt travel and damage property, the warning adds.

The Met Office says that the most extreme weather is likely to come on Wednesday, with up to 60 mm of rainfall possible in less than three hours.

You can find more information on the warnings and how to deal with the weather on the Met Office website.

The potential disruption includes road closures and difficult driving conditions, flooding, and delays to public transport.

There is also a slight chance that some homes and businesses will experience power cuts the warning adds.
