Thunderstorm yellow weather warning issued by Met Office for Friday evening
A heavy thunderstorm is expected to hit West Berkshire later today (Friday), writes Ellie Wheatley.
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office between 2pm and midnight.
The warning said that flooding is to be expected with the potential for 20mm of rain to fall in an hour and 30-40mm to fall within three hours in a few places.
There is also a chance of delays and cancellations to train and bus services, with a warning that there is also a slight chance of power cuts in some areas.
The Met Office added: “Areas of heavy rain and some thunderstorms are likely to move northwards into southwest England and Wales on Friday evening.
“Rainfall amounts and thunderstorm activity will vary across the area. As well as this there is a small chance of frequent lightning and hail within the rain area as additional hazards.”
