Yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across West Berkshire and North Hampshire issued by the Met Office from 4pm-11.59pm tonight
UPDATE 8/10/2024: The yellow weather warning for thunderstorms was again in place today (Tuesday) and runs until 3am tomorrow.
It said that “heavy showers and thunderstorms will move slowly north and east, with some localised disruption possible”.
The district is set to be hit by eight hours of thunderstorms this evening.
The rain has already started in Newbury, but a Met Office yellow weather warning for thunder comes in to force at 4pm.
It remains in place for the rest of the day, finishing officially at 11.59pm.
Some places may miss the worst of it, but heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to cause some disruption later tonight.
The warning covers the whole of West Berkshire and North Hampshire and said: “There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.
“Delays to train services are possible.”
It also warned of the possibility of some flooding and potential for power cuts.
