Newbury Racecourse ready to party with 80s pop icon Rick Astley

It's countdown to 80s pop icon Rick Astley's Party in the Paddock at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday.

Two days of top-quality action are on the cards for Dubai Duty Free International Weekend, a fascinating time of year for the superstars of the future and features a host of two-year old races including the 41st running of the Haynes Hanson and Clark Conditions Stakes over one mile today (Friday) with Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes taking centre stage tomorrow.

Following the live racing on Saturday, Rick Astley will take to the stage for a 90-minute set featuring his classics, plus a selection of exciting covers.

His era-defining Never Gonna Give You Up topped charts the world over and catapulted him on a journey that would encompass eight consecutive UK Top 10 hits and 40 million sales. After stepping aside to focus on his family, he shot back to #1 almost 30 years later with his Platinum-selling album 50. Last month, he released his career-spanning compilation The Best of Me, which also included an independently recorded set of reimagined interpretations of his songs, old and new.

Newbury Racecourse marketing director Harriet Collins said: “I think everyone is looking forward to watching Rick Astley perform live on our Party in the Paddock stage after the racing has finished and tickets are still available to purchase.”
