Tilehurst flat fire due to unattended cooker

Graham Chandler, crew manager of white watch at Dee Road Fire Station in Tilehurst, said two pumps were called at 7.30pm, including one from Tilehurst and another from Caversham Road, Reading, to a flat fire in Craig Avenue.
The fire was out on arrival, with the flat heavily smoke-logged.
An elderly man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters left the scene 40 minutes later.
