Tilehurst grass fire suspected arson

Firefighters called to recreation ground

A Tilehurst grass fire at a recreation ground yesterday evening (Thursday) was put down to a suspected arson.

One pump from Dee Road Fire Station, Tilehurst, was called at 7pm to the small grass fire at Meadway recreation ground, in Church End Lane.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using a bucket of water and left after five minutes.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) recorded the incident as a suspected arson.
