Tilehurst river search for missing person





According to Simon Abbott, manager of Green Watch at Dee Road Fire Station, crews from Dee Road and also Whitley Wood fire stations in Reading were called at 5pm today (Sunday) to Scours Lane, Tilehurst, next to the River Thames.
"A person on an inflatable has disappeared," said Mr Abbott.
A helicopter is also involved in the search, according to Mr Abbott.

Update 8.36PM
According to Insp Mick Park, of Thames Valley Police, police were called to the scene at 4.46pm today, after a member of the public found an empty dinghy on the river.
Emergency services including a police helicopter, fire service rescue boat and ground units, including police dogs, carried out a search of the area, but no-one was found and the incident was closed by police almost two hours later, at 6.25pm
