Walkabout Newbury, previously The Diamond Tap, on sale for over £1 million
-A popular town centre bar will close early next year.
Newbury’s Walkabout, the Australian-themed pub chain known for its party nights and live sport, is listed as for sale on Quintons for more than £1,100,000.
The 900 square-foot, three-storey property is also available to rent.
The ground floor houses the bar and restaurant, the first floor a private function area, while the second floor has staff accommodation.
Stonegate Pub Company purchased the Cheap Street venue, formerly The Diamond Tap, in 2018 which opened following an investment of almost £400,000.
A spokesperson from Stonegate said: “Walkabout Newbury is still open and trading and will continue to welcome guests into next year.
“We don’t have any further details to share at the moment, but we will provide updates when we can.”
Walkabout, which boasts online of being the “ultimate party venue”, has a number of bars across the UK, including one in Reading.
When the Stonegate Group purchased the property from JD Wetherspoon, it quashed initial rumours suggesting the pub would become a Yates’s bar, which the company also owns, as well as the Slug & Lettuce.
