Time Spanners group bows out on a high note
Time Spanners formed in 2000 and has performed summer and winter concerts and held workshops for the past 13 years. However, two weeks ago the founder, musician Mark T, said that the group had decided to end their time together because of financial difficulties.
To celebrate what they had achieved over the years, an event was held at Newbury town hall.
As well as performing, members were given certificates, and a film made about the group, 10 Years of Time Spanning, was screened.
Mark T said: “It went very well and all the clients really enjoyed it. The people who turned up were friends of the group and the event was a celebration.
"It was upbeat rather than being depressing – a celebration rather than a wake. It was generally a very positive atmosphere."
Announcing the decision to disband, Mark T said that since 2009 community arts funding had plummeted and that the economic climate had made things worse.
