'Time to grow up' says man caught with cannabis

Claire French, prosecuting, told Newbury magistrates on Thursday, February 13, how police carried out a “stop check” on 26-year-old Johnny Giles’ car.
She added: “There was a strong smell of cannabis and he produced a small bag which, he said, was £5 worth.”
Mr Giles, aged 26, of Fokerham Road, Thatcham, admitted possessing cannabis on Old Thornford Road, Thatcham, on January 23 this year.
The court heard he has previous convictions for possessing cannabis and for possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Representing himself, Mr Giles told the court: “I want to give it up, to be honest. It’s time to grow up.”
Magistrates fined him £130 and ordered him to pay £85 costs plus a statutory surcharge of £20.
