Top riders revealed at Newbury "Spinathon"

The all-day event asked customers to make use of a static bike to pump up the miles for charity, earning free coffee as they pedalled.
Director of Boswell’s, and Boxford resident, Tim Burn said: “The Spinathon proved a really popular event and at some points we even had a queue of cyclists ready to take their turn. Our customers and shoppers in the Kennet Centre were extremely generous, and there was a real feel-good factor in the café.”
The charity said that the two bikes which worked flat out from 8am until 5pm clocked up an impressive 260 miles, or just short of a ride from Newbury to Newcastle.
The top customer on the day was Chris Franklin who managed 5.4 miles in 15 minutes, and the top staff member was Kashia with 5.7 miles. Most impressive was 9-year old Rosie Burn who pedalled 5.1 miles in 15 minutes.
Maggie Blanks from the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund said: “I’m very grateful to all our supporters for their fundraising efforts and I wish the Burn brothers and the Boswells staff all the best in their fundraising activities in memory of Jeremy Burn.”
