Torchlight procession of guys highlight of Chieveley fireworks party
Bangs, whooshes and whizzes at Newbury and other public displays
A TORCHLIGHT procession of guys will be a highlight of a Chieveley bonfire party tonight - with more fireworks set to light up skies in Wash Common and also Upper Bucklebury this evening (Thurs Nov 5).
Guy Fawkes night fun continues on Saturday (Nov 7), with a charity fundraising fireworks spectacular at Newbury Racecourse.
Gates open at 6.15pm this evening (Thurs) at Chieveley's 47th annual bonfire party, at Chieveley Recreation Ground - with a 6.30pm deadline for entries to the guy competition, with two themes, traditional guys and also James Bond.
Judging of guys at 6.45pm and spectacular torchlight procession of guys to the bonfire at 7pm, followed by the lighting of the bonfire at 7.15pm and firework display at 7.45pm.
A barbecue serving local produce, licensed bar and hot drinks will be available, advance tickets from village shops in Chieveley, Hermitage and Cold Ash. Family ticket £14 (£19 on the night), single £4.50 (£5 on the night), with proceeds to the local community.
Also this evening, Falkland Cricket Club in Enborne Street, Wash Common, host a fireworks display, bonfire and barbecue, gates open 6pm, bonfire lit at 7.15pm, followed by a firework display. Admission £5, children under five free. Limited car parking.
More fireworks are to be found this evening at a public display at The Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury. Gates open 6pm, bonfire at 7.30pm, fireworks at 8pm.
Family tickets (up to 4 people) £12 in advance/£15 on the gate. Under fives free. Single tickets £4/£6 on the gate. Outside bar, burgers, hot dogs and soup. Parking at The Memorial Hall and church car park.
On Saturday night, (Nov 7) charity fundraisers, Newbury Lions, host a fireworks spectacular at Newbury Racecourse.
Gates open 5.30pm. Fireworks display at 7.30pm. Tickets (in advance): adult £4, child £3. Family £12 . Everyone £5 per person on the gate.
Tickets available, Lions Newbury market stall Saturday, Tesco Pinchington Lane, Northbrook Street and London Road, Newbury Building Society branches in Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford, RBS and Newbury Corn Exchange.
Anyone who missed out on the fantastic displays above - or wants to see another - should head to Stockcross, on Saturday November 14.
Deanwood Park Golf Club are hosting a spectacular display set to music, along with a Guy Fawkes competition.
Gates open 6pm, fireworks display starts at 7.30pm. Tickets (until Nov 13) £5 adults, £4.50 children (under 16). Under 2's free.
