Newbury man toughs it out for SSAFA charity at Badminton Tough Mudder
An RAF technician has taken part in a Tough Mudder race to raise vital funds for an armed forces charity.
Kieran Styer, who is currently training at RAF Cosford and will graduate from the aircraft technician course later this month, was joined by Alex Gell and Jonny Moss to complete the South West Tough Mudder.
The trio were raising funds for SSAFA, smashing their fundraising target of £250. Mr Styer alone has already raised £290 and donations are still pouring in.
Mr Styer, who grew up in Newbury, said: “I am raising money for SSAFA because it is a cause that is close to my heart. I am currently in phase two training at RAF Cosford and will graduate their Aircraft
Technician course in September.
"I will then be posted to RAF Benson on Puma’s which I am very excited about.”
Mr Styer said his team made excellent time in the competition and negotiated obstacles including the Arctic Enema and Electro Shock Therapy, in the event held on the Badminton Horse Trial course.
Luckily for them, because of the heat wave, the course was a little less muddy than other Tough Mudders held there in the past.
