The Tour de Berkshire, which is in its fourth year, saw the cyclists embark on a 20-mile journey and return to The Cottage Inn in Upper Bucklebury for refreshments and a barbecue in the pub garden.
The event was set up by local man Ross Green and his wife, Nikki, when their daughter, Tilly, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis within 24 hours of birth.
This year’s target was to raise £9,700 - £1 for every person with Cystic Fibrosis in the United Kingdom – a total which has already been exceeded.
Mr Green, who lives in Bradfield Southend, said: “It was amazing to see so many people out supporting the Cystic Fibrosis trust.
“When we realised Tilly had Cystic Fibrosis we set about trying to do something to raise funds and raise awareness. It started out as just a few mates then grew and grew.”
Mr Green has already set a date for next year’s event – August 2 – and said he is hoping to see more than 200 riders attend and raise even more money for the charity.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s Senior Regional Fundraising Manger for the South, Jenny Westmoreland, said: “This amount will help enormously and will enable us to continue to provide care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and allow them to live better and longer lives.”
